The Chairman of the Christian Council in Bolgatanga, Reverend James Awuni, has cautioned Christians and celebrants of Christmas to exercise restraint ahead of the festivities. Additionally, Reverend Awuni explained that Christmas celebrants must observe the festivities in a way that places God and religion in the proper context.

“Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ. In other words, it is celebrating our faith in Christmas and also rejoicing in God, that we have also seen the light. At times, it is unfortunate that some of us, during Christmas, take the merrymaking for granted, engaging in all kinds of things.”

“My message is that, as people of faith, we are observing it as a solemn occasion; merrymaking and rejoicing in the Lord and not indulging in other excesses.”

Reverend Awuni also called on business folks and drivers to exercise caution. He urged drivers not to overspeed and overload their vehicles in an attempt to meet the rising demand for transportation. He also urged traders not to use the bustling business activities to overcharge and cheat patrons.

Reverend Awuni also announced that the Christian Council in Bolgatanga is organizing a Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols tomorrow, December 15, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church in Bolgatanga.
