Upper East Region records lowest food inflation rate in Ghana

The Upper East Region has recorded the lowest food inflation rate in Ghana, according to the Ghana Statistical Service’s (GSS) Consumer Price Index (CPI) for November 2023.

The region recorded a food inflation rate of 17.5 percent. The Savannah Region recorded a food inflation rate of 24.6 percent, with the North East Region recording a food inflation rate of 40.7 percent. Meanwhile, the Northern and Upper West Regions recorded food inflation rates of 41.8 and 41.7 percent respectively.

The region with the highest food inflation in Ghana was the Eastern Region with a rate of 53.9 percent.

For non-food inflation, the Upper East Region recorded the second-highest rate at 35.8 percent. The Oti Region had the lowest non-food inflation rate of 15 percent, while the Western Region led the country with a rate of 41.2 percent.

According to the GSS’s CPI, the Upper East Region recorded the second-lowest inflation rate in northern Ghana, with a rate of 29.6 percent. The Savannah Region recorded the lowest overall inflation in northern Ghana at 22.2 percent. The Northern Region recorded the highest inflation in Northern Ghana with a rate of 35 percent.

The national inflation rate fell to 26.4 percent.
