Zoomlion Ghana, a waste management company has held a quiz competition amongst Zoomkids clubs in basic schools in the Upper East region as part of activities to mark its 10th anniversary.
The competition amongst others was to assess how well the pupils are abreast with the activities of the club with the main aim of inculcating in them good sanitation attitudes.
A number of basic schools in the upper east region including Fountain Gate International School, Anigazanga JHS, SDA, Abilba Number 1 JHS and others participated in the competition.
Deputy Regional Manager of Zoomlion for the Upper East Region Mr.IssakaAbubakari said the Zoomkids Club programme was initiated by Zoomlion in 2008 in Accra basic schools and was duly launched in the Upper East Region in 2010.
He pointed out the rationale behind the formation of these Zoomkids Clubs which is to create the awareness of school children on environmental sanitation and hygiene in basic schools.
“The Programme is based on our believe that children are more receptive to new ideas than adults, this is because they are at their tender age and can be influenced to cultivate the habit of good personal hygiene very easily. We are catching them young while they are still young with introduction of Zoomkids Programme,” he said.
He stated that the Programme which started with 5 schools can now boast of 84 clubs across the Upper East Region.
