The Upper East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, William Obeng Adarkwuah, has affirmed the commission’s readiness for the upcoming district-level elections.

According to Mr. Adarkwuah, the Electoral Commission is committed to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections, urging the public, particularly voters, to have confidence in the commission’s preparedness.

“We are more than prepared for the exercise tomorrow. You know, this is our work; we have no excuse to say that we are not prepared. Then, what are we doing at our offices in the first place? So, yes, we are ready for the exercise tomorrow.”

The Director, who spoke on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East Show, also made a special plea to district directors and polling station agents to accord extra attention to lactating mothers, the aged, and persons with disabilities during the voting process.

The reason, he said, was one of the commission’s aims to create an environment that accommodates and supports every eligible voter, ensuring that no one is left behind.

He stressed the significance of providing accessible facilities and assistance to those who require it, reinforcing the commission’s commitment to upholding the rights of every citizen to participate in the democratic process.

“This proactive approach aligns with international standards for inclusive elections, and we recognize the importance of equal participation and representation. Again, our focus on lactating mothers, the aged, and persons with disabilities reflects the broader commitment to fostering an electoral system that considers the unique needs and challenges faced by different segments of the population.”

He, therefore, called on every eligible voter to partake in the exercise and comport themselves during and after the exercise.
