Two groups, the Ladies Caucus of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and the Samira Ladies in the Upper East Region, have issued a joint press release on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, warning Madam Beatrice Anningfio to desist from attacking the unblemished personality of the Second Lady, H.E. Hajia Samira Bawumia.
According to them, Madam Beatrice, a communication member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), in her attempt to tarnish the second lady’s “unmatched personality,” has been observed on her Facebook page using “unprintable words” against the Second Lady of the country.
They described her actions as “a symbol of naked jealousy” and demanded that she apologize to Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia. Failure to do so will result in them also targeting Madam Lordina Mahama in “multiple folds.”
“If she doesn’t know where to get proper political coaching, she should sit down. The fact that her makeup artist isn’t doing a better job on her doesn’t mean she should resort to violence; she should sit down and learn! Madam, violence is not the way to go; it’s simply a contest of ideas. Let me also add that if she ever dares to come after the Second Lady, we will also come after Madam Lordina Mahama in multiple folds.”
They added, “We want Madam Beatrice to know that violence is not the way to go and that if she doesn’t have the intellectual capacity to base her campaign on issues and facts, she is not incapacitated to advise herself.”
Liza Abagrey, who read the press release on behalf of the groups, added that they condemn Madam Beatrice’s use of vulgar language in politics. Therefore, on behalf of Madam Beatrice, they want to apologize to their “dynamic, beautiful, and brainy Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia,” and ask for forgiveness, as her actions indicate she was seeking public attention.
She also indicated that, “The NDC has been noted for being involved in several incidents of violence in the country, with recent ones occurring at the Northern Regional headquarters where they chased their national chairman and some regional executives with machetes. On January 13, 2024, their regional second vice-chairman beat their regional treasurer, Hajia Shamima, to a pulp.”
Therefore, “As intelligent as the Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia is, we urge her and her husband to keep doing what they’re doing in putting Ghana on the world map positively. We also encourage the youth to remain resolute in our quest to break the status quo by breaking the 8-year rule jinx of Ghana.”
