The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Chiana-Paga Constituency of the Upper East Region has vehemently criticized recent allegations made by their political opponent, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), against their parliamentary candidate, Nikyema Billa Alamzy.

In a press conference organized by the NPP over the weekend, they called for law enforcement agencies to take immediate action against Mr. Alamzy, citing allegations of physical and verbal assaults within the constituency.

However, the NDC has dismissed these accusations as baseless and politically motivated.

Kennedy Atinga Atulley, the secretary of the NDC in the constituency, described the NPP’s press conference as “child’s play” and “an unintelligent means of tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of Honorable Alamzy.”

The secretary suggested that the NPP’s resort to labeling and character assassination is a clear indication of their inability to compete fairly in the upcoming 2024 elections.

“The blind attempt to associate our revered incoming MP with violence is dead on arrival, and their most cherished customers will not even buy such an illusion and juvenile narration. It only depicts a party that believes in diversionary tactics and lacks a message to persuade and galvanize the will of the electorate. Hon. Alamzy is a devoted and practicing Muslim, a businessman, and a young politician. As such, he will only use nonviolent conduct in attaining his political pursuit,” Atulley stated.

He further emphasized that the people of Chiana-Paga are well aware of the contributions and integrity of Mr. Alamzy, and such allegations will not sway their support.

“We want to admonish the NPP once again not to inflame unnecessary passions and tensions in the constituency, the region, and Ghana as a whole.”

He therefore reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peaceful and issue-based campaigning, focusing on the development agenda for the constituency.
