The Black Satellites and Black Princesses have both guaranteed a silver or gold medal in the ongoing African Games after reaching the final of men’s and women’s football.
The national U-20 men’s soccer team beat Senegal by a lone goal in a hard-fought semifinal, while the national U-20 women’s soccer team triumphed over their Senegalese counterparts by 3 goals to 1.
Substitute Michael Ephson of the Black Satellites emerged the hero of the night, scoring the winner in the 83rd minute to book a place in the final, scheduled to take place on Friday, March 22.
As for the Black Princesses, goals from Tracey Twum and a brace from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah were enough to secure victory over Senegal.
However, Senegal refused to surrender, pulling one goal back through a penalty in the 53rd minute.
The highly anticipated women’s final will take place on Thursday (21 March), at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
