African games 2023: Black satellites and Black princesses placed in Group A

The Official Draw of the 2023 All Africa Games Football Tournament was conducted by CAF on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 16:00 GMT.

The Black Princesses of Ghana have been drawn in Group A with Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia national teams in the women’s draw for the upcoming 13th African Games, Accra 2023.

Ghana will kickstart their campaign against Tanzania, followed by matches against Uganda and Ethiopia in the other Group A games.

The eight participating teams in the women’s football competition will compete from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 23, 2024 in Ghana.

According to the Black Princesses head coach, Yusif Basigi, they have expressed their readiness for the continental showpiece. The Black Princesses, who recently secured qualification to the FIFA U-20 World Cup, are poised to make a strong impression in the tournament. “We have a good blend of experienced and young players, and we are looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

The African Games is a prestigious international multi-sport event, and the women’s football competition promises to be an exciting display of talent and skill. The African Games starts on Friday, March 8 and ends on Saturday, March 23.

On the other hand, Ghana’s Black Satellites have also been paired alongside Benin, Congo, and The Gambia in Group A. The Ghana U20 team will lock horns with these opponents in the group stages of the African Games 2023.

The African Games, scheduled to take place in Accra from March 8-23, 2024, will feature the top eight quarterfinalists from the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023, along with the host nation Ghana.

There are an unusually five teams in Group B. Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda and Tunisia will battle for a spot in the semi-finals.

Ghana has a rich history in the African Games Men’s Football competition, having won the title in 2011 after defeating South Africa 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. The Black Satellites and the Black Princesses will be hoping to clinch the gold medal in men’s football as host nations.
