The Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has articulated his primary motivation for entering politics, emphasizing his commitment to uplifting people and addressing their challenges.

This statement was made during a campaign tour in the Upper East Region, where he met with local chiefs and residents.

Dr. Bawumia stated, “My entering into politics is to lift people up from their challenges. That’s my main goal, contrary to my opponent’s vision.”

During his tour in the Upper East Region, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for the future, particularly emphasizing the development of the agricultural sector.

He highlighted the importance of smart agribusiness, large-scale commercial agriculture, and mechanized irrigation as pivotal components of his policy framework.

These initiatives, he argued, are crucial for boosting productivity and ensuring food security in Ghana.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, especially in regions like the Upper East. By adopting smart agribusiness practices and investing in large-scale commercial agriculture, we can create jobs, increase incomes, and foster economic growth. Mechanized irrigation will ensure that our farmers can cultivate their lands throughout the year, regardless of the season.”

He added that these policies will not only address food security but also tackle longstanding issues such as inconsistent rainfall and limited access to modern farming technologies, which have historically hindered agricultural productivity in the country.

Therefore, he assured that he is committed to helping people and fostering agricultural development as well as building a resilient and prosperous Ghana.
