The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana’s Upper East Region has concluded its first-ever fundraising event, aimed at supporting the party’s campaign activities in the region.

The dinner, held on June 22, 2024, in Bolgatanga, was graced by the presence of former President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The event, organised under the leadership of regional chairman Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, sought to raise funds and resources to achieve the party’s ambitious goals of winning all 15 parliamentary seats in the region and securing 85% of the presidential vote for Mahama.

Notable contributions came from various sectors, including Members of Parliament, parliamentary candidates, and supporters from the private sector and academia. Two significant donations towards building a more robust communication system were highlighted: Richard Anamoo, former Director General of Ghana Port and Harbour Authority, donated 40 new Nokia phones to support the region’s media monitoring efforts, and Dr. Ephraim Armstrong Awinbugri, Vice Chairman of the Regional Communication Committee, pledged a new laptop and projector to aid the bureau’s outreach programmes.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Upper East Regional Communications Officer, Jonathan Abdallah Salifu.

The NDC’s regional leadership expressed gratitude to all contributors, emphasising the importance of these resources in their campaign to “rescue” the country from what they describe as mismanagement by the current NPP government.

This fundraiser marks a significant step in the NDC’s preparations for the upcoming elections, demonstrating strong internal support and organisation at the regional level.

The party’s focus now turns to utilising these resources effectively in their campaign efforts across the Upper East Region.
