Feed the Future Ghana Policy LINK Activity has announced its readiness to partner the Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association for the 3rd Upper East Regional GJA Awards, scheduled for August 30, 2024.
While the specific categories to be the organisation hopes to partner the GJA on were not disclosed, Yunus Abdulai, the Country Lead for Feed the Future Ghana Policy LINK Activity, emphasized that the partnership aims to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of journalists in the region.
“For the Upper East Regional GJA, I am very happy to announce, as the Chair requested, this is the beginning of our collaboration but that is not going to be the end. We’ve been discussing ways that we can partner with the association. As we are launching the awards today, we are planning to support some categories in this year’s awards. Policy LINK will be happy to associate itself with the awards,” he stated.
Mr. Abdulai made the announcement during a public lecture on climate held in Bolgatanga, organized by the GJA with support from Feed the Future Ghana Policy LINK Activity.
“We recognize the media as a key stakeholder and have been working closely with journalists to ensure that policies are effectively communicated and implemented,” Abdulai added.
Aside from the commitment of Feed the Future Ghana Policy LINK Activity to the Upper East GJA Awards, Mr. Abdulai said his outfit also extends its support to similar events in the Northern, North East, Savannah, and Upper West regions.
The 3rd Upper East Regional GJA Awards, themed “75 years of GJA: The Contribution of the Media in Shaping Ghana’s Democracy through Peaceful and Fair Elections,” seeks to honor journalists who have made significant contributions to the region’s development and Ghana as a whole. The event will feature awards in various categories, including Journalist of the Year, Agriculture, Child Protection, Human Rights, Mining, and more.
