Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, has strongly criticized his opponent, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), John Mahama, for his lack of a clear explanation of the 24-Hour Economy policy.

Speaking during a Constituency Connect event in Bolgatanga Central, Dr. Bawumia accused Mahama of failing to make the policy understandable to Ghanaians and dismissed it as an “empty promise.”

Dr. Bawumia expressed his skepticism about the feasibility and clarity of the 24-hour Economy policy proposed by Mahama.

“Continuously, he [John Mahama] has failed to explain to the understanding of Ghanaians his 24-hour economy. His 24-hour economy is an empty promise,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

He further criticized Mahama’s analogy, saying, “He can’t explain it; they say they will be rearing lions and elephants; that is their explanation of the 24-hour economy. And that is a poor analogy.”

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the NPP, in contrast, has a clear and actionable plan to transform Ghana’s economy, particularly through the agricultural sector.

He stressed the party’s commitment to establishing district mechanization centers in every district, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and providing jobs for the youth.

“We, as NPP, have Ghanaians at heart, and we are going to transform agriculture so that every district is going to have district mechanization centers,” Dr. Bawumia assured.

During the event, Dr. Bawumia also addressed the concerns of Ghanaian youth, promising to create job opportunities and implement policies that would strengthen the agricultural sector.

He outlined the NPP’s vision for a more robust and modernized agricultural system, which he believes is crucial for the country’s economic development and food security.
