Former President John Mahama’s National Campaign Tour in the Upper East Region has attracted significant attention, particularly from the youth.

The Upper East Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benjamin Atuasi, emphasized that the large crowds following Mr. Mahama are genuinely supportive, contrasting them with the allegedly “inorganic” crowds seen at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Constituency Connect event held a week prior in the same region.

Mr. Atuasi claimed the youth turnout for Mr. Mahama is a testament to the trust they place in the NDC’s ability to address the nation’s challenges.

“The NPP has sunk the country’s economy, with one corruption scandal after another,” Atuasi said.

“The NDC is the only party that can rescue the country from the bottomless pit that the NPP government has put us in.”

The former president’s tour has been marked by enthusiastic receptions, with many young supporters eager to hear his plans for the future.

The energy and passion of the crowds suggest a strong desire for change among the youth, who are increasingly disillusioned with the current NPP administration, the officer added.

He added that the speeches currently delivered by John Mahama focus on fighting corruption, ensuring economic stability, and the need for effective leadership to steer the country back on track.

“He [John Mahama] has promised comprehensive reforms and initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy and restoring public trust in government institutions,” he stressed.
