Former President John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to hold the current administration accountable for alleged corrupt practices if he is elected president in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking during his National Campaign Tour in the Upper East Region, Mr. Mahama specifically mentioned President Nana Akufo-Addo and his family, accusing them of misappropriating state resources.
“I will hold Akufo-Addo and his family accountable for what they have done by misappropriating the wealth of the people,” Mr. Mahama said.
He indicated that the mismanagement and corruption under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government have severely affected the nation’s economy and the well-being of its citizens.
He further Mr. Mahama called on Ghanaians to vote out the NPP, as his presidency would be a corrective force against the current government’s perceived ills.
He promised to address the corruption that has marred the administration, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
The former president also assured that his anti-corruption drive would extend beyond the NPP, pledging to tackle corrupt practices within his own ranks as well.
“My commitment to fight corruption will not be limited to NPP officials alone. I will equally go after my appointees if they are also found to be corrupt,” he stated.
