Ebenezer Ndebilla, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Zebilla constituency, has expressed skepticism about the Vice President’s effectiveness. He accused him of using resources to sway voters, claiming this is a tactic to obscure the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s failures.
“I don’t see him as a formidable person. He is someone who is pumping a lot of resources into the constituencies. The constituents are already aware of what is happening because they know that these resources are coming from them, intended to buy their conscience,” Mr. Ndebilla said.
“This is a clear indication that these people, including my opponent, are not working in the interest of the people but are simply working to win their votes in order to continue perpetrating the wrongs they have committed over the years.”
He pointed out that despite eight years in power, the NPP has not made a significant impact on the Zebilla constituency. Ndebilla criticized the party for neglecting infrastructure, such as road maintenance and storm-damaged schools, and accused the NPP of attempting to buy votes instead of addressing genuine local issues. “You have been in power for eight years, and what have they done for the Zebilla constituency? Absolutely nothing.”
However, he noted that constituents are prepared to reject the NPP despite its attempts to influence their votes with financial incentives.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ndebilla mentioned that the NDC had already begun its campaign in Zebilla with a significant market day outreach initiative before the flagbearer arrived in the region for his recent campaign tour. The campaign, he said, focused on communicating the NDC’s vision under John Mahama, including the introduction of a new women’s development bank designed to provide financial support to local businesses. Mr. Ndebilla also highlighted that market women were educated on the distinctions between the NDC and the NPP, emphasizing the necessity of reelecting Mahama to tackle inflation effectively.
“We recently started with a market day outreach. It was massive. We visited the major markets in the constituency to share the NDC’s message with the market women. We conveyed a message of hope for an NDC-John Mahama government if elected.”
