The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Zebilla constituency, Ebenezer Ndebilla, has outlined his plans to collaborate with private sector partners to establish a tomato processing factory in the constituency if elected as Member of Parliament. “I have proposed several times that if I am elected, I will work with the private sector to establish a tomato processing factory in the constituency,” he said.
He explained that this initiative is expected to create jobs, reduce poverty, and benefit local farmers and input dealers by enhancing production capacity.
Addressing the healthcare sector, Mr. Ndebilla emphasized the need to upgrade local health facilities. With only one hospital serving the entire constituency and some health centers struggling to function adequately, he plans to lobby for two major health centers to be converted into polyclinics. He highlighted that this upgrade aims to alleviate the pressure on the district hospital and better meet the community’s health needs.
“One of the key things I’ll be doing is to help lobby for the upgrade of two major health centers—one at Sapelega and the other in the Binaba area—into polyclinics. This will help address the health needs of people in those areas and reduce the strain on the district hospital,” he said.
He further stated that he will focus on improving school infrastructure, ensuring that schools have the necessary resources and facilities to create a conducive learning environment. Additionally, he plans to facilitate access to scholarship schemes to enable students to pursue further education and training both locally and abroad.
Mr. Ndebilla also plans to support youth through skill development programs, which will provide job opportunities for them. He outlined his commitment to supporting local farmers by facilitating access to subsidized incubators to enhance poultry production in the region. “If given the opportunity, we should be able to help farmers obtain subsidized incubators that will allow them to hatch more chicks and boost their production,” he said.
He emphasized that his approach will be grounded in practical solutions rather than relying solely on government funding, drawing on his background in development work. “I’m not just going to rely on government funding. I will use the knowledge I’ve gained over the years as a development practitioner,” he added.
However, the candidate stressed that politics should focus on constructive dialogue and idea-sharing rather than personal attacks. He advocates for a politics of intellect and practical solutions to address the needs of the constituency.
