Moses Apiah, Executive Producer of the Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, has been named the Most Promising Journalist of the Year at the 3rd edition of the Upper East Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.
Mr. Apiah also secured the title of Best Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Reporter of the Year, recognizing his dedication to impactful journalism.
This dual recognition highlights Mr. Apiah’s consistent work in the media landscape, where he is known for producing insightful and informative content.
His role as the lead producer of the Day Break Upper East show has been instrumental in bringing important issues, particularly in WASH, to the forefront.
The 3rd GJA Awards were held under the theme “75 Years of GJA: The Contribution of the Media in Shaping Ghana’s Democracy Through Peaceful and Fair Elections.”
The ceremony, which took place at the Blue Skye Hotel, brought together a diverse group of attendees, including traditional leaders, representatives from civil society organizations, and GJA officials from across the country.
Speaking at the event, Williams Nlanjerbor Jalulah, Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, urged journalists to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections. He underscored the critical role of the media in promoting peace and ensuring fair and credible elections in Ghana.
Among the other notable winners were Anthony Adongo Apubeo, who was named Journalist of the Year and also won the Best Education and Health Reporter award; Humul Khrusum Tahiru, who was awarded Female Journalist of the Year and Best Gender Reporter; and Joshua Asaah, who won Best Mining Reporter.
The event celebrated the pivotal role journalists play in shaping Ghana’s democratic and developmental progress, reaffirming the importance of the media in building an informed society.
