Benjamin Torsah-Klu, Chief Economic Officer at the Ministry of Finance, has urged business operators in the Upper East Region to actively engage in the SME-GO initiative to enhance their competitiveness.
Speaking at a stakeholder sensitization event on the SME Growth and Opportunity (SME-GO) program in Bolgatanga, Mr. Torsah-Klu, on behalf of Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, highlighted the initiative’s potential to strengthen the capacities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and provide them with access to soft loans to expand their operations.
The SME-GO program, spearheaded by the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Industry in partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Development Bank Ghana, and Ghana EXIM Bank, is a comprehensive business support initiative aimed at providing financial and technical assistance to SMEs.
The goal is to help these businesses grow and expand, contributing to the broader economic development of the region and the country as a whole.
Mr. Torsah-Klu emphasized that by fully engaging with the program, business operators stand to benefit significantly, not only from financial support but also from technical expertise designed to improve operational efficiency.
This, he noted, will boost the competitiveness of SMEs in the marketplace and support their long-term sustainability.
Mr. Isaac Nimako, representing the Ghana Enterprises Agency, which serves as a technical advisory partner for the SME-GO initiative, encouraged beneficiaries to use the financial support responsibly.
He stressed the importance of utilizing the funds for their intended purposes to ensure maximum growth and impact for their businesses.
