Trias Ghana Offers Steady Market for Guinea Fowl Farmers

Guinea Fowl farmers in Upper East Region have been provided with a steady market for their birds.

This was disclosed at a one-day workshop organized by Trias Ghana for leaders of Upper East Guinea Fowl Farmers Association (GUIFFA).

The market which is provided for by Gees Fresh Meat Products and Packaging company in the Northern regional capital is sponsored by the Northern Rural Growth Programme (NRGP).

The Project targets three thousand Guinea fowl farmers in Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions with thousand five hundred Guinea fowl farmers drawn from 6 Districts in the Upper East region including Kasena-Nankana East Municipality, Kasena-Nankana West district, Bolgatanga Municipality, Bongo, Bawku West and Binduri districts.

In a short speech, Country Director for Trias Ghana, Mr. Asanga, underscored the need for Guinea fowl farmers to increase their production because they now have ready market for their birds.

On his part, Production Manager for Gees Fresh Meat Products and packaging company, Mr. Monten Kanten Stephen assured famers of their readiness as a company to do business with them mentioning that transporting the birds to Tamale should not be a worry because arrangement is being made for an outlet in Bolgatanga.

President of Guinea Fowl Farmers Association (GUIFFA), Mr. Nyaaba Adongo encouraged his colleague farmers to take guinea fowl rearing very serious to enable them succeed in reducing poverty in the region.

He also expressed excitement with their total number of membership which currently stands at 2,655 across the region.

He expressed optimism of a fruitful working relationship between the farmers and Gees fresh meat products and packaging company.
