The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has urged civil servants in the region to refrain from engaging in partisan politics while discharging their duties at the district assemblies.
He emphasized that civil servants are the backbone of the assemblies, and their involvement in political activities could jeopardize the effectiveness and impartiality of the local governance system.
Dr. Bin Salih made this call during a working visit to the Talensi District as part of a broader effort to interact with staff members of the district assembly and gain firsthand insight into the challenges affecting their performance.
He pointed out that when civil servants indulge in partisan politics, the very core of the assemblies’ operations could be undermined, leading to inefficiencies and potential conflicts within the administrative structure.
“You are the pillars of the assemblies, and your neutrality is critical in ensuring that they function effectively. Once you start aligning with political parties, the system becomes compromised, and we cannot deliver the needed development to our people,” Dr. Bin Salih cautioned.
In addition to meeting with the staff, Dr. Bin Salih took the opportunity to visit the Balungu community to inspect one of the Gulf of Guinea Social Cohesion (SOCO) projects being undertaken in the area.
The SOCO project in question is a newly completed health facility designed to serve the healthcare needs of the Balungu community.
The facility, which includes a mechanized water system and accommodation for health workers, is ready for use, and the minister expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the work done.
“I am pleased with the level of work here. This health facility will greatly benefit the community,” Dr. Bin Salih stated.
Some of the district staff who accompanied the minister also expressed their excitement over the completion of the project, highlighting the high standard of work that had been achieved.
The newly built health facility is expected to address the pressing healthcare needs of the Balungu community, improving access to medical services and enhancing the overall well-being of the local population.
