The Protect Our Future Foundation is organizing a program dubbed the ‘She Can Conference.’ Scheduled for October 11, the event aims to address the pressing issue of teenage pregnancy in the Upper East Region.

Operating for seven years now, the foundation is strongly committed to empowering young girls and fostering community engagement.

“Protect Our Future Foundation is a non-profit organization in the Upper East Region, and we are celebrating our seventh anniversary this year. As part of our annual projects, we are launching the She Can Conference to help curb teenage pregnancy in the region,” said the founder of the Protect Our Future Foundation, Susana Anutiga Nablise.

In an interview on A1 Radio, Madam Nablise noted that the conference will feature prominent speakers, including former Regional Minister Patience Paulina Abagaye Tangoba and Dr. Vida Nyagre Yakong, Dean of Students at the Midwifery and Nursing School at UDS, Tamale. According to her, their insights will guide discussions aimed at motivating young girls and promoting alternatives to early marriage and pregnancy.

“We have organized the conference to motivate these girls and let them know that if others from the region can succeed, then they too can achieve their dreams.”

With a focus on encouraging girls to pursue their aspirations and believe in their potential, the event seeks to inspire participants by showcasing successful women from the region. “We believe that if other women from the region have succeeded, they can too. Marriage is not the solution; getting pregnant is not the solution.”

She highlighted the alarming rates of teenage pregnancy, emphasizing the need for change and support.

“Statistically, the rate of teenage pregnancy in the region is high. So, from Protect Our Future, our way of helping to curb that menace is through the ‘She Can Conference.’”

Scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM at GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga, Madam Nablise stated that the conference will welcome students from various community schools and is open to everyone interested in contributing to this important cause.

She also invites community members to support the event and help make a positive impact in the region. “Protect Our Future Foundation is based in the Upper East Region. It’s for the Upper East Region, and we are calling on everyone to support us in any way they can to make this conference a success.”
