Former National Coordinator of National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) Hon. Abuga Pele has said he is optimistic of being vindicated in his trial at an Accra high court on accusations of financial misappropriation.

Mr. Pele, who is also the Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, is contending with charges leveled against him including intentionally misapplying state resources by authorizing payments to Goodwill International Group, as well as willfully causing financial loss to the state while serving as boss of former NYEP and now Youth Employment Agency.

In an exclusive with A1 radio Mr. Pele described his trial as a mere allegation and was hopeful of restoring his hard earned reputation.

“I think that this is an opportunity rather for my name to come out even better because at the end of the day the court will vindicate me and when they vindicate me my integrity and name as you called it will be restored in a manner that I could not have achieved on my own,” Mr. Apele stated.

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga constituency dismissed assertions that his re-election bid would fail on the back of his trial.

According to him, the NDC leadership could not have prevented him from contesting the primaries following his indictment and gave a strong indication he would clinch onto victory in the delayed parliamentary primaries for the constituency slated for July 9.
