The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Officer for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Job Aboyom, has called on the advocacy group Narrative Changers in the Upper East Region to redirect their focus towards holding the government accountable for development.
A news item attributed to the Chairman of Narrative Changers, George Solomon Gbenga, claims that the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has failed to address pressing developmental needs in the constituency.
Mr. Gbenga argued that, although the MP has raised the profile of the constituency nationally, he has fallen short in using his influence to bring tangible development to his constituents.
However, in a statement signed by the NDC Bolgatanga Central Constituency Communications Officer, Mr. Aboyom described Mr. Gbenga’s comments as unfair, below-the-belt, and hypocritical.
According to the NDC Communication Officer, Narrative Changers should prioritize scrutinizing government policies and initiatives rather than targeting individuals like Isaac Adongo, who is an opposition MP working to serve his constituency.
“Let George Solomon Gbenga of Narrative Changers be reminded and urged to direct his attention and concerns towards the government of Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia if he is not ill-motivated, as it is the government of the day that controls the public purse and has monumentally failed the good people of Bolgatanga Central, the regional capital, in critical areas of need,” Mr. Aboyom stated.
While highlighting the achievements of Mr. Adongo, Mr. Aboyom mentioned that the MP’s contributions to development are top-notch across sectors such as education, health, road infrastructure, security, sports, water, and sanitation.
Mr. Aboyom further questioned the motives behind Narrative Changers’ silence on the numerous unfulfilled promises in the region, as well as on the many abandoned development projects and initiatives started by the previous NDC government.
