Residents of Sherigu, a suburb of Bolgatanga Municipality in the upper east region are now living in a state of fear following a mysterious ‘killing’ of a 13 year old boy in the mid-morning hours of Sunday.

According to eyewitness, the body was found close to an uncompleted building near the house of the deceased with only his head buried under a heap of sand.

The boy according to community members was seen playing around the community center in the early hours of the day before his untimely death. The residents say the situation is frightening and simply beyond comprehension adding that the gruesome killing may be for ritual purpose.

“I have directed my children to be at home as early as 6pm” a mother said.

“I used to stay outside till odd hours at night but due to yesterday’s incident I got home around 7pm. We are now living in a state of fear. Who knows who is next,” an obviously fear gripped parent told A1 news.

Assembly member of Pumpuugo electoral area, Amoah Francis Ayine said the community members are now living in fear following the incident.

“If you ask everybody they can’t even explain the whole thing, everybody is sad and the whole thing is just worrying.”

The body of the boy has since been deposited at the Bolgatanga hospital morgue for autopsy to be conducted. The police have invited some individuals including parents of the boy to assist in investigations.
