The Bolgatanga South-West Circuit concluded its much-anticipated interschool sports competition on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Zamse Senior High School park. The week-long event, which began on Monday, January 20, brought together students from six junior high schools and five primary schools to compete across a variety of sports disciplines.
The final results highlighted the competitive spirit and talent of the participating students. In the primary school soccer matches, the boys’ game ended with Kalbeo/Tindonsobligo Primary edging out Baptist Primary 1-0. Meanwhile, in the girls’ competition, Ayuusi Yine Primary defeated Baptist Primary by the same scoreline.
In the Junior High School (JHS) soccer matches, Aningazanga JHS and Baptist JHS delivered an exciting game that was decided by penalties after a draw in regular time. Baptist JHS emerged victorious with a 7-6 win in the penalty shootout. Similarly, the girls’ soccer match between Kalbeo/Tindonsobligo JHS and Ayuusi Yine JHS also went to penalties, where Ayuusi Yine claimed a 4-1 victory.
The handball games were equally thrilling. In the boys’ division, Kalbeo/Tindonsobligo JHS narrowly defeated Adabase JHS 5-4. However, in the girls’ division, Baptist JHS edged out Kalbeo/Tindonsobligo JHS by the same margin, winning 5-4.
The volleyball competitions were no less exciting. In the boys’ category, Baptist JHS defeated Ayuusi Yine JHS, while in the girls’ category, Kalbeo/Tindonsobligo JHS triumphed over Ayuusi Yine JHS.
Following the event, several outstanding students were selected to represent the circuit in the upcoming intercircuit games. Primary school representatives will participate in their games on February 5, 2025, while the dates for the junior high school competitions are yet to be announced.
The event was widely hailed as a success, offering students an opportunity to showcase their skills while fostering a sense of sportsmanship and camaraderie. As the circuit gears up for the upcoming intercircuit games, excitement and anticipation continue to build.
