Simon Akibange Aworigo, the Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Constituency, has expressed his commitment to improving literacy among pupils in his constituency through an essay competition.
He explained that the initiative is part of his broader vision to enhance reading and writing skills among young learners, helping them build confidence and develop critical thinking abilities.
Speaking on A1 Radio about his first-time experience as a legislator, Mr. Aworigo emphasized that beyond the essay competition, he intends to provide essential learning materials to pupils to support their academic growth.
These materials, he noted, would include textbooks, exercise books, and other educational resources to facilitate effective learning.
“As a first-time MP, I recognize the importance of education in shaping the future of our children. This essay competition is just one of many steps I will take to ensure that pupils in Navrongo Central improve their reading and writing skills. Beyond the competition, I am committed to providing the necessary materials to boost their confidence and academic performance,” he stated.
In addition to supporting literacy programs, the MP highlighted plans to improve educational infrastructure in the constituency.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by some schools, including inadequate classrooms, poor furniture, and a lack of libraries.
To address these issues, he pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance learning environments for pupils.
Mr. Aworigo reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing education and ensuring that pupils in his constituency have access to quality learning resources and opportunities.
