The Vice Chancellor of C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS), Professor Albert Luguterah, has emphasized that one of the defining features of the university is its dynamic and youthful teaching staff.
According to him, CKT-UTAS boasts a team of vibrant, young lecturers who are deeply committed to delivering high-quality education.
The educators, he said, are not only enthusiastic but also highly knowledgeable, a combination that Professor Luguterah believes enhances the learning experience for students.
“What makes us unique is that we have very young, vibrant lecturers. We don’t have very old lecturers,” he stated.
Speaking on A1 Radio recently, he shared insights into the university’s distinctive approach to higher education, highlighting several key aspects that set CKT-UTAS apart and reaffirming its commitment to excellence in technology and applied sciences.
According to Professor Luguterah, CKT-UTAS blends teaching with research, ensuring that students receive up-to-date and relevant education in today’s rapidly evolving world. This research-driven approach helps students stay ahead of the curve and better prepares them for future challenges.
Despite being located in a region that faces unique challenges, the university remains determined to offer an outstanding educational experience. Professor Luguterah explained that CKT-UTAS attracts students from other regions, even at a higher cost, because of the exceptional opportunities it provides.
“I keep saying that, given where we are, there’s a lot of pressure on us to do something outstanding that makes us relevant. Many factors don’t favor us, so the only reason why people will leave universities down south and come up here at such a cost is that we have something unique and substantial to offer.”
He stressed that the university has earned a strong reputation, particularly in mathematical sciences and computer science, where it is considered one of the best institutions in Ghana. CKT-UTAS has built a solid academic foundation, with highly qualified professors leading courses in these fields, ensuring that students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their careers.
Professor Luguterah also noted that the university adopts a forward-thinking approach, focusing on current trends and future advancements rather than past achievements. The collaborative efforts of its young faculty, despite various challenges, have been central to its success.
“We are more dynamic; we like to look at things in terms of the present and the future rather than the past. I give a lot of credit to our very young and dynamic lecturers, who are ready to go all out—despite the challenging circumstances—to produce the excellent results we see today,” he said.
