“Bawumia is the only candidate who can take us to power” – Musah Salahudeen

“I believe the NDC cannot do anything new. The budget is clear. I mean, there’s nothing inspirational about it. People are talking about the E-levy being abolished. Beyond that, what else?” he questioned.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East Regional Youth Organizer, Salahudeen Musah, has strongly endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s best hope for reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections.

“Bawumia is the only candidate who can take us to power.”

In an analysis of the party’s future direction, Mr. Musah highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s vision, ideas, and national appeal as unmatched within the NPP. He believes the former Vice President remains the most marketable and forward-thinking candidate capable of leading the party to electoral victory, despite differing opinions within the party’s ranks. He acknowledged that internal disagreements are natural in a democratic environment, but maintained that unity behind a capable and visionary leader like Dr. Bawumia is essential for the party’s success going forward.

“People have divergent views, so you cannot expect all of us to align in the same direction. But the fact remains that, for the NPP to win the 2028 election, the only person who can lead us to that victory is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia — no one else. He’s the most marketable candidate. He’s the candidate with the vision and ideas to lead us to that victory.”

Mr. Musah attributed Dr. Bawumia’s loss in the 2024 elections not to his personal performance, but to the lingering perception of the previous administration’s challenges. He argued that Dr. Bawumia unfairly bore the political burden of others, which negatively influenced public opinion during the election.

“The challenges of the previous administration were what people used as the determining factor.”

Turning his focus to the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, the NPP executive expressed skepticism about its ability to deliver meaningful change. He noted that the new administration has yet to present any bold or transformative policies, claiming that much of its agenda consists of rebranded initiatives from the previous NPP government. As an example, he cited the “Feed Ghana” program, which he described as a repackaged version of the NPP’s “Planting for Food and Jobs.”

He also questioned the overall inspiration behind the NDC’s 2025 budget, arguing that aside from the scrapping of the E-levy, there is little evidence of innovative policy direction.

“I believe the NDC cannot do anything new. The budget is clear. I mean, there’s nothing inspirational about it. People are talking about the E-levy being abolished. Beyond that, what else?” he questioned.
