The Upper East Regional Office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has organized an annual training workshop for sachet water producers in the region. The workshop aimed to educate producers on good manufacturing practices (GMPs) to ensure the production of high-quality and safe sachet water for consumers.
Abel Ndego, Acting Regional Head of the FDA in the Upper East Region, emphasized the importance of GMPs in ensuring quality and safety of sachet water. He stated that water is life and it is crucial for the FDA to ensure that producers follow good practices in their factories.
“In this case for sachet water, we are looking basically at quality and safety. So we have gathered here today to be able to share ideas on best practices, and what is recommended by the provisions of guidelines and international standards. This would help equip our sachet water producers to be able to ensure that the water they produce is of the highest standard and quality”

This, he said, will guarantee that the water sold to consumers meets quality and safety standards. The training focuses on teaching and reinforcing best practices in the manufacturing of sachet water in the region.
The training covered key areas, including proper hygiene and sanitation practices in production facilities, correct water treatment and purification methods, packaging and labeling standards and regulatory compliance, and FDA monitoring processes.
Thomas Anthony Baba Piameng, Chairman of the Sachet Water Producers Association in the Upper East Region, commended the FDA for the training and urged members to strictly follow safety protocols.
