The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bolgatanga East District, Jacob Abugre Aka-Eri, has acknowledged the concerns of residents regarding the continuous dumping of rubbish around the Kulaa bridge.
To address the growing volume of waste in the area, Mr. Aka-Eri has initiated discussions with Zoomlion Waste Management Company to manage the situation.
“Yesterday, we met with Zoomlion at the RCC, and we told them to deal with that issue. Something will be done about it,” he said.
The recently confirmed District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East has also expressed his commitment to expanding the road network and improving existing roads in the district.
Speaking to A1 Radio’s Mark Smith in his first media engagement after his confirmation, Mr. Aka-Eri explained that, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Dr. Dominic Ayine, there will be sustained efforts to enhance road infrastructure.
“Apart from the Bolga-Bawku road, we only have the Licence Office–Zuarungu road, which is partly tarred. Apart from that, all the other roads are in a deplorable state. Together with the MP, we intend to push for additional roads.”
Additionally, since its creation, the Bolgatanga East District has not had its own office for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
This has meant that residents seeking NHIA services have had to travel to nearby districts—such as the Bolgatanga Municipality—for registration and renewal.
However, this is about to change, according to Mr. Aka-Eri. He made the announcement during an interview with A1 Radio’s Mark Smith on Tuesday, May 14, 2025.
