The Member of Parliament for the Tempane Constituency and Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, has strongly condemned the recent violent conflict between members of the Bimoba and Fulani communities in Kongo, a community in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.
The violent clash, which occurred on August 2, 2025, was reportedly sparked by a land ownership dispute and resulted in the burning of homes and injuries to several individuals.
In an official statement, Mrs. Akanvariba expressed deep sympathy to victims of the incident, particularly those who lost their homes or sustained injuries. She pledged her unwavering support to help restore normalcy and ensure the well-being of affected residents.
“To all those affected, I extend my heartfelt sympathies. I assure you of my full support as efforts are made to restore calm and find lasting solutions,” she stated.
The MP called on residents of Kongo to remain calm and refrain from any further acts that could worsen the situation. She emphasized the importance of dialogue and peaceful engagement as the only path to sustainable peace and reconciliation.
“I urge all residents to remain peaceful. Let dialogue, not violence, lead the way forward,” she added.
Mrs. Akanvariba also pledged to work closely with the Tempane District Assembly, traditional authorities, and all relevant stakeholders to address the underlying issues and promote lasting peace and unity within the community.
