The Fire Service Ladies Association (FISLA) of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Upper East Region has celebrated its 30th anniversary with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to duty.

The event, organized by the FISLA President, DOII Anyinasong Gloria, in Bolgatanga, brought together members to mark this significant milestone.

The occasion highlighted the association’s dedication to promoting the welfare and development of women in the fire service.

DOII Gloria emphasized that the celebration was not only to mark three decades of service but also to recognize the progress made by women within the service.

“For three decades, we have not only answered the call of duty but also broken barriers, challenged stereotypes, and uplifted the image of women in uniform,” she said. “We have stood shoulder to shoulder with our male counterparts, proving that the fire may be fierce — but the Ghanaian woman is fiercer.”

The celebration featured a range of activities, including games, health screenings, and wellness programs aimed at promoting teamwork, fitness, and self-care among members. Several FISLA members expressed happiness about the event, describing it as both refreshing and inspiring.

As part of the celebration, FISLA made a significant contribution to the Ghana National Fire Service Regional Headquarters in Bolgatanga, donating 20 bags of cement to support an ongoing construction project.

The Regional Fire Officer, ACFO II Segoe Richard, commended the association, noting that FISLA’s 30th-anniversary celebration serves as a testament to its enduring commitment to empowering women in the fire service.
