The Communications Officer for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Talensi Constituency and member of the party’s Upper East Regional Communications Team, Michael Nangena, has described the party’s clean sweep of all 15 parliamentary seats in the Upper East Region as a major victory that will translate into accelerated development for the area.

According to him, the NDC’s dominance in the region following the 2024 elections provides a strong foundation for coordinated development efforts between the region’s Members of Parliament (MPs) and the central government. With all 15 MPs belonging to the ruling party, he said the region is well-positioned to attract key government interventions, infrastructure projects, and job opportunities.

“This 15–15 means development for the Upper East Region, and already, we are beginning to see a lot of positive signs,” he said.

Speaking to A1 News, Mr. Nangena noted that road infrastructure remains a top priority for the Upper East Region. All 15 constituencies, he explained, have been included in the government’s 166 ten-kilometer road project under the Road Development and Maintenance Fund.

“All the 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region have been captured in the 166 ten-kilometer road project that the government intends to execute under the Road Development and Maintenance Fund,” he stated.

This initiative, he said, will ensure that every constituency receives an average of 40 kilometers of improved road network annually, enhancing connectivity and local development.

Beyond roads, Mr. Nangena highlighted plans by the NDC parliamentary caucus from the region, led by Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga, to secure partnerships with international development institutions. Discussions with the World Bank, he said, are expected to result in the construction of small-scale irrigation dams across all constituencies. These dams will support dry-season farming and improve agricultural productivity, offering a more sustainable approach than previous government initiatives.

He also expressed optimism about progress on other critical infrastructure, including the long-awaited Upper East Regional Airport project, which he said is receiving unprecedented commitment from the current government.

Mr. Nangena further emphasized that with all 15 MPs representing the ruling party, the region’s lawmakers now have the capacity and political leverage to engage ministries and agencies directly to secure projects that will benefit their constituencies. He reaffirmed that the NDC’s “15 out of 15” victory in the region symbolizes a new era of coordinated development, improved infrastructure, and greater access to economic opportunities for the people of the Upper East Region.

“There are other projects that will come on stream, and thanks to the fact that we have all MPs on the ticket of the NDC. So that 15–15, to me, means development. Our MPs are now capacitated to approach any agency or ministry within this government and ask for something that can be very beneficial to their constituents and, for that matter, the region at large,” he said.
