The National President of the Technical Universities Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG), Stanley Akamiri Abopaam, has called for an end to the payment disparity between administrators and teaching staff in technical universities.

Mr. Abopaam emphasized that while TUSAAG supports fair compensation for teachers, the significant pay gap between administrators and teaching staff is demotivating and requires urgent government attention. “The current trend of pay disparity is beginning to constitute a significant demotivation within the teacher education ecosystem,” he stated.

He appealed to the government to address the imbalance, stressing that rewards for productivity and hard work should be equitable. He further warned that failure to address the issue could result in industrial unrest in the tertiary education sector.

The TUSAAG President made the call during the Association’s 7th Annual Delegates Congress, held at the Bolgatanga Technical University.

The event was held under the theme, “Unity, Innovation and Advocacy: Strengthening the Voice of the University Administrator.”

Speaking on behalf of the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, the Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Mohammed Issahaku, praised the role of university administrators, describing them as the indispensable engine that keeps technical universities functioning.

“Without your dedication and professionalism, Ghana’s technical universities cannot fulfil their mandate,” he said.
