We Have Agreed on Power Sharing with John Mahama-Ayariga

Hassan Ayariga has disclosed that his party, All Peoples Congress, (APC), has agreed with President John Mahama to share power if he wins his second bid in office.

“What the APC has agreed with President John Mahama is that in his second term, the APC will share power with the NDC. With this, we will have APC Ministers, Deputy Ministers and DCE’s in government.”

Mr. Ayariga mentioned that sharing power with the NDC’s next government will put an end to the winner takes all syndrome which has affected the country and make room for an all-inclusive governance.

He maintained that the President has agreed to adopt the APC’s manifesto and its policies including the review of the country’s educational system and curricula to make people more creative with employable skills and linking agriculture to industry.

Though acknowledging that the biggest opposition NPP has strong and good leaders, Ayariga in a sharp contrast said the party has picked a wrong leader to lead them.

Ayariga noted that the New Patriotic Party is clamoring for change but “the change the NPP is calling for should be to change Nana Akuffo Addo who has failed to bring them back to power for eight years and have continuously decreased the fortunes of the party”.

He added that Nana Akuffo Addo is divisive hence the creation of the Kuffour, Nana Addo, and Allan Kyeremanteng factions and has failed to unite the front of the party since he was elected to lead the party.

Ayariga admonished all northerners to keep President John Dramani Mahama by massively voting against ‘pensioneer’ Akuffo Addo who is sick and weak and cannot govern the country beyond one term.

“Nana Addo’s reign will be for four years because he is seventy-two and is very weak. Nana Addo is a sleeping Nana Addo that I know. He is my friend and I know that he is sick and weak. Everybody who is seventy is weak and cannot govern a country.”

Hon. Ayariga advised Ghanaians to be conscious of their words and ways before, during and after the election to ensure that the country continues to enjoy the relative peace it has been enjoying over the years.

Hassan Ayariga, further charged northerners to come out in their numbers on December 7 to vote massively for President John Dramani Mahama or risk not having a northern President for a very long time.

According to him, after Dr. Hilla Liman was overthrown for allegedly “chewing cola nut and splashing it on the walls of the castle”, it took over thirty-two years before a Northerner became a President and that will be repeated if President Mahama is not given a second term.

“After Liman was overthrown two months into his tenure, it took almost thirty-two years to get a President from the North. If we make a mistake and remove President Mahama, no Northerner will ever occupy any position like Presidency for the next fifty years. This will be a record for the Northerners that we have two Presidents who could not stay in power for two terms.”

To him, voting out President Mahama will be a mistake and an affirmation of what the NPP has always said that Northerners cannot lead and Northerners cannot do anything.

Hon. Hassan Ayariga who was speaking to A1 Radio in the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga wondered why the NPP is not using their Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Bawumia in another part of the country but only in the three Northern Regions; a clear indication of the divisive tactics of the party “where they use your own brother to destroy you”.

He, therefore, underscored the need for Northerners to rise and fight to keep their brother in power or risk lack of continuity in projects started by President Mahama like was done to projects started by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah after he was overthrown.
