A violent clash between youth from the Winkogo community and students of Bolgatanga Senior High School (BIG BOSS) left several students injured and about 13 female students hospitalized on Thursday night, January 15, 2026.
According to a deep throat source, the incident, which occurred between 9 and 11 pm on the school premises, began when three youths of the Winkogo community allegedly entered the campus and behaved in a disorderly manner around the Science Block and Dining Hall area.
An attempt to restore order reportedly led to the physical attack of a tutor by one of the intruders, triggering a confrontation between the students and youths.
The situation escalated when two of the intruders fled and later returned with reinforcements, pelting stones near the Dining Hall, Girls’ Dormitory, and staff bungalows. The sources added that the chaos caused panic among students, resulting in about 13 female students collapsing. One male student also sustained injuries.
Efforts by the school authorities and the community opinion leaders to calm the situation failed until the police intervention. Information available to A1 Radio is that the injured students were transported to health facilities, with all reported to be in stable condition.
Two of the intruders also sustained injuries, one of whom, according to sources, is still receiving treatment at the Tongo District Hospital.
