Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Roland Ayoo Atanga has called for renewed unity, faith and collective responsibility as the foundation for accelerating development in the Upper East Region, stressing that true progress begins with strengthening the human spirit.
Speaking at Gibeath Ha-Elohim at Damolg-Tindong during a special gathering dubbed “A Time of Interaction,” Mr. Atanga described the event as “divinely orchestrated” and a timely moment for reflection, encouragement and recommitment to the region’s development journey.
“If the Lord had not been on our side, we would not be standing here today. This gathering is not by accident; it is divinely orchestrated,” he said, commending Eastwood Anaba Ministries for creating a platform that blends fellowship, recognition and purposeful action.
The event, held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, brought together senior citizens, politicians, traditional leaders, clergy, heads of institutions and development partners to share a meal, celebrate God’s goodness and recognize individuals who have contributed to uplifting the Upper East Region.
Mr. Atanga emphasized that development must go beyond physical infrastructure to include emotional, social and spiritual well-being.
“Development is not only about roads and buildings. When people are refreshed, they are renewed in strength, vision and purpose. That is how lasting change begins,” he noted.
Receiving recognition for his modest contribution, the Bolga MCE said the honor belongs to all stakeholders working toward the region’s progress.
“I accept this recognition not as a personal achievement, but as a collective effort involving public servants, traditional leaders, faith-based organizations and ordinary citizens working together for the common good,” he stated.
He urged stronger collaboration between government, the church and traditional authorities, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when society moves forward together with shared values.
“Government alone cannot do it. The church has a vital role in shaping values, promoting peace and empowering our youth. When we walk together with integrity, hard work and accountability, progress becomes inevitable,” he said.
Touching on youth development, Mr. Atanga encouraged young people to embrace education, skills training and discipline while shunning violence and dependency.
“When the youth are guided with wisdom and purpose, the future of the Upper East becomes brighter and more glorious,” he added.
The event, organized by Eastwood Anaba Ministries, aimed at fostering refreshment, recognition and renewed commitment to regional development. It concluded with prayers and calls for sustained collaboration toward building “a prosperous, peaceful and admired Upper East Region.”
