Former Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage has praised the overwhelming performance of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the National Patriotic Party’s (NPP) January 31 presidential primaries, particularly in the Bawku zone.
In a Facebook post, Ms. Abayage noted that Bawumia won five out of six constituencies in the eastern part of the region, a significant improvement from the 2023 primaries when the party secured only one constituency.
“Let me place on record that I have been pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming win of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the Bawku zone: winning all but one of the six constituencies and with impressive numbers,” she wrote.
She described the results as a “strong message” that the party knows how to recover and mobilize when it matters most, and congratulated members of the party in the region for their efforts.
The preliminary results show Bawumia securing 14 of the 15 constituencies across the Upper East Region, strengthening his position as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
