The Rt. Rev. Dennis Debukari Tong, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tamale, has called on members of the Anglican Men Fellowship (AMF) to embrace the servant leadership modeled by Jesus Christ.
Speaking at the 2nd Quadrennial Diocesan Delegates Conference in Bolgatanga, Bishop Tong emphasized that true leadership involves serving others and making sacrifices for the greater good. The conference was held under the theme: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
“Jesus’ leadership style is different from what we know and practice. In today’s world, leaders are served and revered, but Jesus served his disciples. That is the example he wants us to follow,” Bishop Tong said.
The Bishop urged AMF members to be proactive in growing and developing the church. He highlighted their critical role in discipleship, community service, and church development, encouraging delegates to reflect on their calling and establish structures to fulfill their mandate.
He posed key questions for reflection: What kind of service is required of them? Who needs to be “ransomed” in their church and community? And what sacrifices is God calling them to make for the fellowship, the church, and society?
The Anglican Men Fellowship, founded in 1997, serves men aged 21 and above across Ghana. By August 2006, it had 1,906 active members in 69 chapters spanning seven dioceses. The AMF is integral to the Anglican Church’s programs and initiatives nationwide.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, commended the church’s efforts and praised AMF members for their dedication to advancing God’s work.
