President-elect Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has assured the chief of Bawku Zugran Naaba Asigri Abugrago Azorka II that his government will not abandon uncompleted projects which were started by the outgoing John Mahama led administration.

There have been concerns over the continuation of ongoing projects in the upper east region with many expressing fears the projects might suffer an abrogation following the assumption of a new government.

BONABOTO, a civil society group comprising of citizens from Bolgatanga, Nabdam, Bongo and Tongo in the Upper East Region earlier emphasized the need for the President-elect to continue the construction of the Bolga-Bawku road and other projects unfinished by the outgoing National Democratic Congress government in the Upper East Region.

BONABOTO’s public relations officer, Stanley Abopam who underscored this on A1 radio’s ‘Zina Yela’ program stated that the 155 kilometers Bolga-Bawku-Polmakom road which has witnessed sod cutting on two occasions when constructed will boost the Ghanaian economy.

The group further appealed to the incoming administration to continue an on-going asphalting of Bolgatanga township roads by the John Dramani Mahama administration and also take immediate steps to salvage the dire situation of Senior High Schools by working assiduously to release feeding grants for the schools which have been in arrears.

Speaking at the Bawku Naaba’s palace, Thursday, during a courtesy call to thank the chief and his elders for the support given him and the New Patriotic Party during the 2016 elections, Mr. Akufo Addo assured of his government’s commitment to complete the ongoing projects.

“I want to assure the Bawku Naaba that the projects that the Mahama government started, we are going to make sure that they come to a conclusion. In our manifesto, we have a whole chapter dealing with suspended projects for one reason or the other and it is not good for Ghana and I am not going to add to that story. I am coming to complete whatever work is in progress so you should have no fears at all” he said.

Meanwhile, in a welcome address read by Thomas Abila on behalf of the chief, congratulated the President-elect on his victory and wished him the best in his government.
