Members of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Bolgatanga marked their maiden Cultural Sunday on March 8, 2026, with a call for unity and appreciation of diversity among Christians.

The event, held under the theme “One Body, Many Members” and the proposition “Unity in Diversity,” brought together congregants dressed in various traditional attires representing different cultures.

Scripture readings were delivered in several local languages, including Yoruba, Gurune, Dagbani, and Asante Twi, reflecting the multicultural nature of the congregation.

Delivering the sermon, the Head Pastor of the Bolgatanga congregation and Upper East Regional Head Pastor of the church, Rev. Thomas Abukari, reminded members that the Christian community functions like a human body in which each part plays an important role.

He emphasized that every member of the church is significant and should not feel inferior because of their role or background.

“Every part of the body is important. Likewise, every member of the church is significant, so do not look down on yourself. Let us strengthen the diversity we have because diversity is not division,” he said. “The church is strong when we embrace our differences and accept Christ as our head.”

Rev. Abukari encouraged the congregation to value diversity within the church, noting that differences in language, culture and personality should not be seen as a source of division but rather as a reflection of God’s design.

“Differences in cultural background, language and personalities come from God. What the world often sees as a problem, God defines as a design. Diversity is not a human idea; it is God’s,” he said.

The Cultural Sunday celebration formed part of efforts by the church to promote unity among believers while appreciating the different cultural backgrounds represented within the congregation and across the country.

Rev. Abukari also urged members to focus on unity rather than uniformity, stressing that true Christian fellowship is built on shared faith rather than outward similarities.
