The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has again demonstrated his commitment to youth development and community engagement by sponsoring this year’s Ramadan Soccer Fiesta in the constituency.
The annual football tournament, now in its 18th edition, features 16 teams drawn from various communities across Bolgatanga Central in the Upper East Region. Since 2013, Mr. Adongo has served as the principal sponsor of the competition, steadily expanding his support to sustain and grow the event.
According to a statement signed by Aboyom Job, Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency, the total sponsorship package for this year’s tournament is estimated at GH₵50,000. The package includes cash support for the organization of the games as well as prizes for participating teams.
Awards to be presented at the end of the competition include footballs, sets of jerseys, and a trophy, among other items aimed at motivating teams and rewarding outstanding performance.
Mr. Adongo, a former footballer himself, is said to hold a strong belief in the power of sports to shape lives. The statement indicated that the MP’s continued investment in the tournament underscores his recognition of football as a tool for promoting discipline, teamwork, and unity among the youth.
The Ramadan Soccer Fiesta has, over the years, grown into a major fixture on the local sports calendar, drawing large crowds and fostering a strong sense of community spirit. It also provides a platform for young talents to showcase their skills while encouraging physical fitness and healthy competition.
This year’s tournament brings together teams from Kotokoli Zongo, Gambibgo, Zaare, Atulbabisi, Gumbisi Zongo (Olicoco), Zongo, D-Line, Moshie-Zongo, Yagzore, Dagweo, Tanzui, Bukere, Soe, Dapooretindongo, Majeema, and Tindonmolgo.
