The Nabdam District Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Joachim Elbazar, has cautioned tricycle operators about the dangers of drug abuse.
Speaking at the inauguration of the National Union of Tricycle Operators, Ghana (NUTOG) in Bolgatanga, Mr. Elbazar emphasized that drug abuse threatens the future of Ghana’s youth.
He noted that many tricycle operators are young people, and substance abuse can lead to mental disorders, health issues, and even death. “A canker to our own lives can also harm the future of this country,” he warned.
The NCCE Nabdam Director urged operators to join the fight against drug abuse, saying, “The future of this country is at stake.” He highlighted that the Upper East Region has great potential, but substance abuse undermines progress.
The NUTOG regional inauguration ceremony was held under the theme, “Unity and Discipline on Our Roads: Securing Our Future through the Regularization of Tricycles in Ghana.”
The NCCE message aligns with efforts by NUTOG and other stakeholders to promote responsible behavior among youth and ensure a brighter future for the region and Ghana as a whole.
Mr. Elbazar also called on tricycle operators and the youth to uphold their civic duties to the highest standards at all times.
