The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Atanga Akamugri, has cut sod for the construction of emergency GETFund projects at Azeem-Namoa Senior High School in the Bongo District.
The projects include a two-storey boys’ dormitory block with a courtyard, a two-storey girls’ dormitory block with a courtyard, and a three-bedroom headmaster’s bungalow.
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday, Akamugri said the projects are expected to be completed within 18 months.
He urged community members to support the contractor to ensure timely completion, stressing the importance of a strong work ethic and cautioning against the theft of construction materials.
He added that the project has been fully costed and awarded, warning that any theft could lead to delays and increased costs.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Charles Bawaduah, commended the president for the intervention, saying the projects will significantly improve teaching and learning conditions at the school.
He also noted that other schools in the district require similar support and pledged to follow up to ensure they receive attention.
The projects form part of ongoing efforts to improve education infrastructure and expand access to quality learning environments in the Upper East Region.
