The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Mahama Dung, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving infrastructure and living conditions in the constituency through a combination of emergency interventions and ongoing development projects.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Dung said his recent visit to the constituency was primarily aimed at assessing the impact of rainstorms that affected several communities and schools across Talensi.

According to him, the storms ripped off the roofs of homes and school buildings, displacing residents and disrupting teaching and learning. He said he toured some of the affected communities to assess the extent of the damage and interact with victims.

During the visit, the MP also inspected the Gbeogo School for the Deaf following a fire outbreak that destroyed parts of the facility. Expressing concern about the welfare of the students, particularly children with special needs, he assured residents that efforts were underway to secure support for rehabilitation works.

“As soon as I got there, I realised they also had water challenges. Instantly, I mobilised about GH¢24,000 to support the drilling and mechanisation of a new borehole to improve water supply in the school,” he said.

Mr. Dung further disclosed that he had supported a community-led initiative in Winkogo to construct a police station by donating 100 bags of cement, 2,000 blocks, and GH¢1,000 in cash.

He also announced that his office had released GH¢150,000 to facilitate the opening of approximately 42 kilometres of roads within communities in the constituency.

According to him, the project will be executed with graders in collaboration with the Regional Feeder Roads Department to ensure the roads meet the required standards.

The MP additionally inspected ongoing works on the Eastern Corridor Road and a newly upgraded E-block project at Yamaga. The facility is being transformed into a full boarding school with dormitories, staff bungalows, a dining hall, and other supporting infrastructure.

Mr. Dung said his office remains committed to responding to emergencies while pursuing long-term development projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the Talensi Constituency.
