Member of the Upper East Regional communication team of the NPP, Issah Sanusi, has challenged the government to account for what he describes as stalled road projects in the region, particularly the Bolgatanga–Bawku and Navrongo–Sandema roads.
Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East programme, Mr. Sanusi questioned the government’s commitment to road development, arguing that some major road projects in the region have remained incomplete despite repeated assurances.
He cited the Bolgatanga–Bawku Road as one of the key projects that residents continue to raise concerns about, saying the slow pace of work has created difficulties for road users.
Mr. Sanusi also mentioned the Navrongo–Sandema Road, describing it as another major route in the region where residents expect further progress.
He questioned the government’s promise to construct 10 kilometres of roads in each constituency, saying the commitment should be measured by visible projects on the ground.
Mr. Sanusi said residents in the Upper East Region need to see evidence of ongoing road construction to justify the government’s infrastructure promises, including the planned road projects in 166 constituencies.
He argued that the region has consistently supported political parties through elections and therefore deserves corresponding development, particularly in the area of road infrastructure.
Mr. Sanusi also criticised what he described as inadequate advocacy from Members of Parliament in the region, saying MPs should collectively push for solutions to development challenges affecting their constituents.
He cited instances where lawmakers from other regions have mounted pressure on government over issues affecting their communities, arguing that similar efforts could be made to address concerns in the Upper East Region.
Mr. Sanusi maintained that road infrastructure remains a major concern for residents and called on the government to fulfil its commitments on road development.
