A1radioonline.com has learnt that former Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Rockson Ayine Bukari, will be named Upper East Regional Minister barring any last minute changes.

Rockson Ayine Bukari served as MCE for the Bolgatanga Municipality under the erstwhile Kufuor first term administration but was replaced in the second term of the government.

Sources say the yet to be announced appointment has been received with mixed reactions with some leading members of the NPP in the region not happy with the choice of the President.

Although several names including that of the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga Central in the just-ended election, Rex Asanga, came up for the position, a1radioonline.com can confirm that the member of the National Council of Elders of the party popularly referred to as “Action Man” will be elevated to the status of Regional Minister.

Hon. Ayine Rockson comes in as Regional Minister at a time when the Upper East Region is bedeviled with a host of challenges including poor road network, schools under trees and the unavailability of infrastructure and is expected to come in with ideas and initiatives to propel the development of the Region.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo will officially announce the names of nominees for the various Regional Minister positions tomorrow.

President Akufo-Addo upon the assumption of office has appointed thirty-six Ministers who are currently being vetted by Parliament’s Appointment Committee.
