Poor road infrastructure remains one of the biggest development challenges confronting the Binduri Constituency, despite renewed work on some road projects, according to the constituency’s NDC Communications Officer, Jambeidu Mbawine Sadat.
Mr Sadat says several roads connecting communities are in poor condition, while some bridges also require urgent attention, making movement difficult for residents.
The situation, he said, has sometimes compelled residents, particularly young people, to organise communal labour to make some of the roads passable.
“Roads are not really good and they are not really in better shape as far as the Binduri Constituency is concerned. But now a lot of attention is being given to Binduri, and I believe we will get there very soon,” he said.
Mr Sadat, however, said work has resumed on some road stretches following the return of a contractor whose project had stalled.
He mentioned the road from the Binduri District Assembly area towards Abu Ndawo and the Atoba area as one of the stretches currently receiving attention.
Beyond the poor road network, Mr Sadat identified youth unemployment as another major development challenge facing the constituency.
He estimated that about 40 percent of young people in the constituency have benefited from employment opportunities through government agencies, the security services, teaching and other interventions.
He acknowledged, however, that many qualified young people remain without jobs and said more employment opportunities are needed.
Mr Sadat maintained that sustained investment in road infrastructure and employment would be critical to addressing some of Binduri’s development challenges.
