Talensi DCE Race: Competence was sacrificed for people who can be controlled

Polling station executives and Coordinators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Talensi District have accused members of the party’s vetting committee of shortlisting people they can control rather than competent people to be considerd for the District Chief Executive position.

In a press statement copied to a1radioonline.com, they mentioned that “We, the youth and supporters of the New Patriotic Party are worried, ashamed, scandalized and above all disappointed with the manner in which the vetting was done at the regional level with regards to the selection of who becomes DCE in Talen Teng”.

According to them, the Regional Vetting committee did a poor job by not choosing the best materials for the district but rather people who they can control.

People who committed their resources and energy to the activities of the party at the constituency, regional and national levels have been cruelly and abysmally discredited and have rather given the opportunity to those they can “control”.

They could not fanthom why the Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the December election, Thomas Duanab and one Mr. Alibo could not make the shortlist although they satisfied all the parameters outlined by the vetting committee which includes the commitment of the individuals to the party and their popularity in the district.

Mr. Alibo who was born and bred in the party has been notoriously treated at the regional level. What is even amazing is the fact that our astute, brave and indefatigable former PC (Hon. Thomas Duanab Wuni) who has to lead the party during the bye-election as well as the just end general election has been treated unfairly. Ladies and Gentlemen, during the general election, the Parliamentary Candidate supported the party in diverse ways up to the extent that he even gave out his personal vehicle to be used for the campaign. So if we may ask, what wrong did he do that he has to be treated this way?

They called on the President to as a matter of urgency rectify the blunder caused by the Regional executives to help choose competent individuals who can support his vision to transform Ghana.
