A former Communications Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah has urged the new Akufo-Addo led government to scrap the policy of government officials purchasing government vehicles after the tenure of office.

According to him, scrapping the law will bring an end to the harassment of former public officials by the government’s taskforce.

Director of Communication at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin last week speaking to the media indicated that more than 200 state vehicles have gone missing adding that this was detected after the assessment of five car models in the car pool inventory of the Flagstaff House.

His claim brought about a back and forth between the previous government and the current government with the Akufo-Addo government subsequently forming a taskforce charged to retrieve all vehicles from state officials in the  Mahama led government.

But in a facebook post-Dr. Omane Boamah charged the new government to do away with the policy and assure Ghanaian’s that there will not be a rpeat during their tenure.

On the issue of cars used and purchased by outgoing appointees, the current government should end the policy, promise not to repeat it; and stop harassing innocent citizens in the name of “searching for missing vehicles”, methinks“.
